I understand that there are some people that would settle for a simple automatic watch but there are also some that would require far more features as they could have plenty of uses for them.
If you are planning to go on a marathon or if you are planning to become more active, then I suggest that you buy a chronograph watch. But, before you do so, do read the rest of the article to find out the most important things that you need to know first.
1.Buy One Based on How You Will Use It
When you go to a watch store, the salesman will probably ask you this one common question: How will you use your chronograph? If you cannot answer him right off the bat, that means that you’re just thinking of getting a watch and nothing else. You see, a chronograph watch does more things than just timing races. It can help you track your parking meters, cooking times, bike runs, exercise routines and so much more. Lawyers can actually have plenty of uses for this type of watch because they can track their billable hours and you can even tell how many minutes you’ve wasted after being stuck in traffic. So if anything, chronograph watches are tool watches that pretty much contains all of the most necessary features one can dream of getting.
2.Make Sure that the Legibility is Clear
If you are going to buy a chronograph watch, may it be a digital one or with an analog display, it is important that legibility is clear at all times. Because you are tracking time, it is important that you will be able to see what’s on the main watch face without having to squint or turn on any illumination features. A simple glance over your wrist should suffice.
3.Analog or Digital?
There are actually two types of chronograph watches that you can find on the market: Analog or Digital. Well, if you ask me, just go with what works for you best. Let’s look at it from a functional standpoint. Digital chronograph watches are great for runners or racers simply because it is definitely much easier to read numbers from a digital display as opposed to the analog configuration, especially when you are on the move. However, they may not be as stylish as the other one. If you want it to become more stylish, then the analog display is surely the one that you should get. With the right strap and watch case, you can even wear that on smart-casual events.
4.What About the Strap?
Again, this boils down to style more than anything else. A resin band is usually the preferred option, especially since you are going to sweat a lot if you are on the move or are in a marathon or something. However, if you are just going to use it as your everyday watch, then perhaps something more stylish is okay.
A basic chronograph watch comes with a timekeeping functionality, as well as the ability to use a stopwatch and a timer. Adding more features could convolute the main watch face and may not be quite appealing for some users. However, if you are okay with adding more watch complications, then by my guest.
